im 18 and im 9 weeks pregnant with my boyfriend. im a spiritfilled christian and he is agnostic. ive gone down my own road for the past 6 months or so and this is where is am now. i know the calling on my life is to be a missionary this is on my heart so much;it has been since i was about eight. at the moment ive got tonnes of options to go to different places as a missionary. a few years ago i went to bali,and work in an orphanage for six weeks, i left my heart there and now theyve asked me to go back indefinatly to the same place etc. this is a dream ive had since i left. anyway i know and believe with all my heart that abortion is wrong and ive always been dead set against it. but now that im in this situation i feel differntly about it and ive got an appointment for one on thursday. im considering it cos if i do this then i can go back to bali get right with god etc and break up with my boyfriend(not something i want to do)there is noway we can go thru adoption.please read below…
my mum had a dream about all the countries that im called to and that if i dont get right with god soon its going to be too late. but if i have this baby then i wont be able to do this either….i dont know what to do!

Well, some Christians feel that abortion is "the lesser of two evils"- that it is kinder to you to let you have an abortion rather than force you to keep the baby. BUT
honestly, i think if you think that you can’t go through with the abortion, then don’t have one. Will you regret it for the rest of your life? If you believe that abortion is wrong; don’t have one. It’s YOUR choice.

Besides, as your child gets older, there is no reason he/she can’t go along with you. I know many "Mish Kids" who were raised in the Missionary Field. Talk about having some amazing experiences! They may not be just like me, but they are so lucky to have traveled as they have.

I am not Christian, but once was. I hate to see someone have an abortion when they are so conflicted about it, because it is permanent and will affect you permanently.

Have you considered the possibility that God wants you to have the baby? That he placed that child within you for a purpose? Perhaps your mother’s dream was off-base, and he is keeping you from harm by keeping you here.

I won’t insult you or be rude. I will not judge you if you decide to have an abortion. But I think that because you are who you are, you should seriously consider changing your plans to include a +1. Let me know if you reconsider the adoption issue. There are lots of different ways to go about it, and you can even know the adoptive parents if you want.

I will be thinking of you. I’d love for you to let me know how things work out for you, but don’t do it here. You’ve already opened yourself up to enough criticism.

Edit: I want to respond to the person who said "do what feels right. God will forgive you". I was Christian for long enough to know that this is NOT what is taught. Jesus said "go, and sin no more", NOT "go sin. I got crucified AND tortured, so you should be good for about 100,000 more sins". Christians are supposed to recognize sin, and keep themselves from it. I’m not saying abortion is a sin, but if that’s what you believe, then being cavalier about it won’t help you.

You know the answer to this. Stop using Gods word and your "feelings" as an excuse to have an abortion. You may be a missionary yet but your first priority is your child. As a women, your family has to come first. Don’t nullify God’s word by using the excuse of becoming a missionary to have an abortion. Have your child bring it up and then be a missionary if you still feel that way.

There are many missionaries who were sure that they were called here or there but God led them someplace entirely different. God dances with us. In other words, there is not just one path that we are to take in life. God acts and we react. In response to our reaction, God leads us. We make a misstep and a door closes and another door opens. Be open to God.

Here is a personal story. I met a smuggler while traveling in Greece. He smuggled Bibles into Moslem countries along the Mediterranean. Twenty years earlier he lived in Denver Colorado and thought his mission was to serve his church there. But his business partner stole his money and destroyed his life. Of all things, God led him to buy a sailboat (in Denver?), learn to sail and take it across the ocean. It wasn’t the life he thought he wanted, but wow, what that man and his wife experienced in those twenty years.

You don’t get right with God by having a doctor kill your unborn baby. You get right with God by confessing and repenting and determining that from now on to the best of your ability you are going to do things His way.

It sounds like you are not trusting in the Lord with all your heart but instead are leaning on your own understanding and that of other people.

You don’t know, and your mother doesn’t know, how God can work all things together for good by His supernatural provision and power. Instead, like Abraham and Sarah did when Sarah had her husband have sex with her servant Hagar, you figure that you can use your human understanding of your circumstances to "help God out" in fulfilling His plan for your life.

Romans 8:28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.

Don’t make such a huge mistake that you will regret for years to come. Just imagine telling people that you began your missionary career by having an abortion. Right off your testimony is shot. It is pagans who sacrifice their children to their "gods" not Christians.

God sees a person in the womb, not an unviable tissue mass.

Jeremiah 1:4 The word of the LORD came to me, saying, 5 "Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations."

God says that children are a blessing from Him.

Psalms 127:3 Behold, children are a heritage from the LORD, The fruit of the womb is a reward.

God says that He sees the unborn in the womb and his supernatural power is active in their development.

Psalms 139:13 For You formed my inward parts; You covered me in my mother’s womb. 14 I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works, And that my soul knows very well. 15 My frame was not hidden from You, When I was made in secret, And skillfully wrought in the lowest parts of the earth. 16 Your eyes saw my substance, being yet unformed. And in Your book they all were written, The days fashioned for me, When as yet there were none of them.

If you have an abortion, just thinking "Oh, God will forgive me afterwards" He WON’T. Do not tempt the Lord your God, remember? Geez, I’LL take your baby! He or she would have medical insurance, a roof over his or her head, lots of love, and stability. I’m completely serious. My husband and I want a baby badly, and can’t seem to conceive. At the moment, it’s impossible (unless God intervenes).

So you’d have to put your dream back a little. That’s a lot better than tempting God.

You would be a hypocrite if you had an abortion.

Granted we all make mistakes, but you have a cnance to correct your mistake, by having the baby. Aren’t you glad your Mother didn’t abort you? Abortion is MURDER!
